Publication Ethics and Publication Malpractice Statement
Ath-Thufail: Jurnal Pendidikan Islam Anak Usia Dini is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against publication malpractice. This statement is based on the principles and best practices developed by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and serves as a guide for editors, reviewers, authors, and the publisher involved in the publication process.
All parties are expected to uphold academic integrity, transparency, fairness, and responsibility throughout the editorial and publication process.
Ethical Responsibilities of Editors
The editors are responsible for ensuring the quality and integrity of the journal. Editors shall:
- Evaluate submitted manuscripts solely on their academic merit without discrimination based on race, gender, religion, nationality, or political beliefs.
- Maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and not disclose any information to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, editorial advisers, and the publisher.
- Make publication decisions based on the originality, significance, clarity, and relevance of the manuscript to the journal's scope.
- Avoid conflicts of interest in handling manuscripts.
- Ensure that manuscripts suspected of plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, or unethical research practices are appropriately investigated.
- Take corrective action when ethical concerns arise, including publishing corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern when necessary.
Ethical Responsibilities of Reviewers
Peer reviewers play an essential role in maintaining the scientific quality of the journal. Reviewers are expected to:
- Conduct reviews objectively, fairly, and constructively.
- Maintain the confidentiality of manuscripts under review.
- Provide clear, evidence-based comments to assist editors and authors.
- Identify relevant published work that has not been cited.
- Inform the editor of any suspected plagiarism, duplicate publication, or ethical misconduct.
- Decline to review manuscripts where conflicts of interest exist.
Ethical Responsibilities of Authors
Authors submitting manuscripts to Ath-Thufail must ensure that:
- The submitted work is original and has not been published or submitted elsewhere.
- All sources of information are appropriately cited.
- Data presented are accurate and honestly reported.
- Fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, and duplicate publication are strictly prohibited.
- Authorship is limited to individuals who have made significant scholarly contributions to the research.
- All co-authors have approved the final manuscript before submission.
- Any conflicts of interest are disclosed.
- Research involving human participants has received appropriate ethical approval when required.
- Significant errors discovered after publication are promptly reported to the editor for correction or retraction.
Ethical Responsibilities of the Publisher
The publisher supports the Editorial Board in maintaining editorial independence and ensuring that ethical standards are consistently applied. The publisher is committed to:
- Supporting editorial freedom and integrity.
- Preserving the scholarly record.
- Preventing commercial interests from influencing editorial decisions.
- Providing resources necessary to maintain ethical publishing practices.
Plagiarism Policy
All submitted manuscripts are screened using plagiarism detection software before entering the peer-review process.
Manuscripts containing plagiarism, excessive similarity, fabricated data, or other forms of academic misconduct will be rejected immediately. If misconduct is discovered after publication, the journal reserves the right to retract the published article.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy
The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)-assisted technologies (such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, Grammarly AI, or similar tools) is permitted only to assist with language editing or manuscript preparation.
Authors remain fully responsible for the originality, accuracy, interpretation, and integrity of their work.
AI tools:
- Must not be listed as authors.
- Must not replace the intellectual contribution of researchers.
- Must be disclosed in the manuscript when their use has significantly contributed to manuscript preparation.
Conflict of Interest
Editors, reviewers, and authors must disclose any financial, institutional, or personal relationships that could influence the publication process.
Where conflicts of interest exist, appropriate measures will be taken to ensure an impartial editorial decision.
Complaints and Appeals
Ath-Thufail welcomes reasonable complaints and appeals regarding editorial decisions, publication ethics, or editorial processes.
All complaints will be investigated fairly, confidentially, and in accordance with COPE guidelines. The Editor-in-Chief has the final responsibility for resolving ethical issues related to the journal.
Corrections, Retractions, and Withdrawals
If significant errors or ethical violations are identified after publication, the journal may publish:
- Corrections (Errata or Corrigenda)
- Expressions of Concern
- Retractions
These actions will be undertaken following internationally accepted publishing standards and COPE recommendations.
Copyright and Open Access
Ath-Thufail is an Open Access journal. Authors retain copyright of their work while granting the journal the right of first publication. Published articles are made freely available to readers worldwide in accordance with the journal's licensing policy.
Ethical Compliance
By submitting a manuscript to Ath-Thufail: Jurnal Pendidikan Islam Anak Usia Dini, authors confirm that they have read, understood, and agreed to comply with this Publication Ethics Statement and all applicable editorial policies of the journal.
