Learning Indonesian in elementary schools or Islamic elementary schools requires an effective approach to measure students' abilities as a whole. One method that can be applied is authentic assessment, which emphasizes assessment based on real contexts and students' practical skills. Authentic assessment is becoming increasingly relevant in the context of learning Indonesian. The Independent Curriculum encourages a more flexible and contextual approach, so that authentic assessment can play an important role in improving students' understanding. The purpose of this study is to identify authentic assessment strategies in improving Indonesian language learning in elementary schools. The method used in this study is a qualitative approach with a library research approach. The results of the study show that authentic assessment has great potential to improve the quality of Indonesian language learning in elementary schools. Realistic and contextual implementation encourages students to think critically and creatively. Support from various parties is needed so that authentic assessment can run effectively and bring positive changes to education in Indonesia
