Abstrak

Humans are the essence and primary target of the educational process. Education is always closely related to the nature of human existence, because education is an effort to develop human natural potential. Therefore, in understanding education, one must understand the nature of humans well. This study aims to understand the concept of humans according to Muhammad Naquib Al-Attas. This study uses a qualitative approach with a literature study type. Therefore, the main data sources are written documents. Two books by Muhammad Naquib Al-Attas "Islam and Secularism" and "The Concept of Education in Islam" are the primary data sources. Meanwhile, books and journal articles related to the research theme are secondary data sources. Content Analysis was chosen to analyze textual data, interpreted, and presented in an exploratory narrative manner. The results of this study are: (1) humans have two aspects: physical and spiritual, therefore education is an effort to provide knowledge (religion and science) for both aspects; (2) the goal of Islamic education is to form complete individuals as civilized humans. Islamic education aims to instill manners in humans so that they can understand the position of each existence in the order of life
